Hi all, Green here.
If you're a veteran, you may know me for NeoSoft. But you may have seen that things have become very silent, since I've merged NeoSoft with HSD Productions (which we still refer as that, because Pixels Studios doesn't fit too well).
So if you've been wondering what I've been doing for the past year, here you go.
Finally, a Discord bot that isn't full of gimmicks and actually has features that focus on what it's meant to do! (Looking at you, Nevira.)
I've been spending some time in a community of a game that I play with some of my friends, but we all noticed that the official Discord server we used to hang out in became way too restrictive for us to communicate freely in. So instead of creating a second megaserver, we decided to take our existing Discord servers and unite them into one space to chat in. And thus, Unifier was born.
At first, Unifier was just a simple bot with one room only. But even on launch, Unifier became a hit among the communities that were the "launch customers" (not really customers, but I couldn't find the right term for it, so for now have this I guess). I then added support for multiple rooms, then had a developer I met on a hosting service Discord join the team. For once I was truly collaborating with someone to make a Discord bot, unlike before.
And most recently, we optimized Unifier to the point that it's 12.5x faster at bridging messages compared to when it was released. We also brought it to Revolt, then later to Guilded using the lessons I've learnt from bringing Unifier to Revolt, as well as bringing SnakeB (RIP) to Guilded. You can find out more about Unifier in its official wiki, also powered by GitBook.
And just for clarification, Unifier is not considered a NeoSoft bot.
I've also been working on a visual novel for High School Diaries. The team members have been getting tighter schedules recently, so we decided making a visual novel would be the best way to go. I'm currently in the process of creating the engine, but it's 70% there. Once it's done we'll be going full steam ahead on scripting everything!
I've started researching encryption algorithms and networking protocols to make this work. I don't have an app or anything yet, so this will take some time.
This is for a school project, but it's still related to my programming stuff, so I'm listing it here anyways.
As a school research project, I'll be researching how better NLP (Natural Language Processing) models are at detecting hate speech detection, compared to conventional algorithms like detecting hate speech keywords or comparing the input with a hate speech dataset and seeing how similar they are. This will take some time to do, but it'll be interesting!
So yeah, TL;DR: I'm not dead, I'm still alive and coding. I haven't had much time to spend on Nevira and anything else NeoSoft, especially since I'm prioritizing more of my time on Unifier. But I'm updating Nevira every now and then, especially when something stops working.
And before I go, enjoy Nevira's new memey banner because why not:
