NeoSoft's grown a lot. We used to be called Natalia Bot Development Group, then Nevira Bot Development Group, and once we stated to maintain multiple bots, we renamed to NeoSoft. Things have changed a lot since then.
And so have we.
We first were focused on creating bots to experiment with Discord's Bot API to see how creative we could get with it. We created Natalia for the basics, and once we accidentally had to revert from v4.4 to v4.2, we created Nevira, to go even further.
And how, we're not just creating bots for experimenting anymore. Playtime was over - and that's what Nevira V4, V5 and X1 were all about.
And since we've grown this far, it's about time I tell you who's really behind NeoSoft. And what we are.
NeoSoft is a pretty small group. And by pretty small - I mean small. It's about time I revealed the developers behind the scenes.
Before I begin, please note that all staff were volunteers - everyone that were in the NeoSoft Team volunteered to contribute at zero pay. Nobody at NeoSoft, including myself, made any money out of creating bots.
We used to have three people in the team - me and my two best friends. I was the only one with programming knowledge, though - and once I taught those best friends how to code their own Discord bots, they left NeoSoft to make their own bots. I'm not criticising their decision, though.
Then I "hired" a friend who had experience with programming. But he wasn't really experienced with the language we mainly used (Python), so he was hired as a Natalia developer (since Natalia was simple at the time, unlike V7 and the upcoming X1 release with neoX2c) to experiment with Discord's API and create cool commands.
However, his employment didn't last long. Due to behaviour issues, I had to remove him from the team, and instead hire someone else. And the same happened to that guy, too.
And now here we are.
Honestly, I've been lying to you when I referred NeoSoft as "we", just because it was a group of people in the past (in terms of developers. I actually wouldn't be lying, but "we" in this wiki usually means the devs, because I just document commands and updates to bots here). NeoSoft isn't actually a "we". I just said "we" because it used to be a group.
NeoSoft is actually an "I". I, Green, am the sole developer behind all NeoSoft bots currently operational. Nevira, Natalia, Nevira Beta, Natalia Beta, TestMusicBot, Colin and Amelia - they were all created by me. Although Nevira and Natalia received some contribution from others, I can safely say at least 99% of EVERYTHING on those bots were all my work. And by my work, I mean my work or Stack Overflow answers I had to look up to solve issues and create new things I had no idea how to do. Everything you see on this wiki was all documented by me.
I'm also the sole maintainer of NSElena. Even though DigitalOcean is my VPS provider, nobody is sponsoring me to run my bots. I publish bot updates, check the servers, etc. all by myself, with the internet being my only help.
I've considered giving up so many times because of external pressure - but I keep going. Although it's a pain in the butt working with slash commands, fixing server issues, and creating stuff I've never even thought of, NeoSoft will still prosper for a few more years, at least. Programming is one of my favorite hobbies, and NeoSoft is what inspires me to keep loving this hobby. So to everyone that supports me for maintaining bots with all this hard work, thank you and I love you all - NeoSoft wouldn't be where it is now without your support. ❤️
Due to issues with past employees (or should I call them "volunteers" instead, I don't know, you decide), no, and I don't think I ever will hire anyone for now.
For now, NeoSoft will remain as a single dev group. If I decide to go bigger, I might reconsider, but for now, I'm keeping the staffing where it is now.
I'm already being attacked a lot for no reason, and I don't want NeoSoft to go down in flames as well. Better safe than sorry.
NeoSoft is currently privately owned by no other than me. And I intend to stay this way - I want to have full control over what I make, so I'll be able to provide the same awesomeness without providing any bullshit, just like how Nevira is right now. I really love my job, and I always will.
NeoSoft aims to provide awesome bots without the junk and BS you see in other bots on Discord, especially that one bot with a similar name to "You6". I don't do pay-to-win here, nor do I like scamming you. And I'd end Nevira than create Nevira NFTs.
I've been following this psychology for years now, and I always will. I may add options to pay with actual money for certain features when I feel like Nevira's grown enough, but I never will paywall a crapton of features like how that one bot did. In fact, I followed Discord's principles and never paywalled an existing feature when NeoSoft Premium launched - instead, I only added features that were going to be limited to Premium subscribers only. In fact (again), Premium was never meant for revenue anyway - it was to help boost how Nevira is used (although I don't know how you use Nevira, since I don't collect analytical data at all).
Although I drift a lot while playing Eurobeat with my American drifter (Roadster) in Jailbreak, no, this is not a reference to the song.
It reminds me of two VPN companies that are competitors with each other, one being the underdog offerring amazing services with zero BS, and the other being the big giant offerring amazingness as well, but with lots of BS. I couldn't even go for the monthly plan of the latter - so I gave up trying to test it out.
It's kinda like NeoSoft and some other bots. We make bots without adding BS to it, while the latter makes bots that may be P2W or tracking you. Or some other BS we don't remember.
I'm planning on testrunning Natalia or SnakeB with the Guilded API to see how it does compared to Discord's API. If Guilded API meets my standards, I might migrate all bots to Guilded to reduce the stress I'm having with Discord.
And maybe one day, I might stop making bots entirely. I might create my own communication app, or maybe even create games. But that's still undecided yet.
I GOT A GAMING PC LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO
What does this mean for NeoSoft? This will probably make devving a lot easier than it was before. With way better CPU and GPU horsepower, Discord API's limitations are the limits instead of the hardware. Multitasking will be so much easier now.
No, I'm not selling diaries for high school students. I MEAN WHY WOULD I, IT'S CALLED NEOSOFT NOT NEODIARIES LOL
It's just some series I'm working on with my friends.
Wow, I published this blog post months later than when I expected to post it. Procrastination, I guess.
