Goodbye, independence (somewhat).
It's time to end a chapter.
It's been 4 and a half years since everything started. We were once Natalia Development Group, and now we're NeoSoft. But that's about to change.
Starting today, I'm announcing that NeoSoft is no longer independent.
Wait, what?
You heard it right - NeoSoft is no longer independent. But before you leave me for not keeping my promise, stick with me for a moment. You'll see why. NeoSoft is still independent - just not at the same time.
I know I promised to keep NeoSoft independent especially from any bullshit corporations that focuses on money over quality and community. Although this change won't break that promise, I've broke another.
I promised to keep NeoSoft independent - but that kind of feels like a bullshit promise, now that I look back at it. I'm not just interested in making only Discord bots anymore - I want to go even further.
But why?
There is one problem with NeoSoft, that this change is being made: the name.
"NeoSoft" is a compound word of "Neo" and "Soft", with Neo meaning "new" to represent my vision towards modern software, and the Soft meaning Software, obviously. But of course, I didn't name it "NeoSoftware" - that sounds like crap. So instead, I took a hint from one of my former allies, and named it NeoSoft instead. No, this name was in no way inspired by MicroSoft whatsoever.
If you have found the problem, congratulations! You may skip to the next line. If not, it's the "Soft (Software)" part.
I know I make amazing programming stuff (even according to independent testers), and I brand them under "NeoSoft", my "organization" for everything. But I'd like to make other stuff, too. However, I can't brand them all under "NeoSoft", as they aren't software-related.
I'm even creating a series with my friends (I do the management and scripting, not the actual production, so be aware on that and give my bestie the credit for the actual video), but would it make sense to brand it under NeoSoft? No.
So that's why us three created HSD Productions, a separate virtual studio for our animated stuff. But HSD Productions has the EXACT SAME PROBLEM: THE NAME.
HSD is an abbreviation for High School Diaries, which is the series we're making right now. Just like how it won't make sense to brand an animation series under a software organization, it won't make sense to brand a non-High School Diaries animation series under an organization that is literally called HSD Productions.
So, I need a better name for NeoSoft, and HSD Productions too. So, do we just rename both and call it a day? NOPE!
I've tried to change NeoSoft's name in the past for this, and the community said nope. So I can't rename NeoSoft to something different, so what do we do?
We merge them together, into one group.
And there you go - you have the answer to what I meant by "Goodbye, independence".
"But Green, you can just rename HSD Productions only and call it a day!"
NOW ENTERING: NeoSoft and HSD Productions' legendary partnership
Because I manage both NeoSoft and HSD Productions, I felt like a merge would be better than a simple rename. This would make things simpler and integrate the two organizations better.
"Why can't you just rename both?"
Sigh. You just skimmed over this article, didn't you?
The new group
Introducing: Pixels Group.
Combining NeoSoft and HSD Productions, Pixels is a group focused on creating digital media for all. Still featuring the good ol' NeoSoft products, and the HSD episodes (that we're still working on).
"What about your friends? They're a part of it, too! You can't just revoke their ownership over the studio!"
We will still remain owners of the virtual studio, just under a different name. This was done after a group agreement, otherwise this blog entry wouldn't have been posted announcing the merge (which would've never happened).
Also my bestie will become a director of the entire group because she has lots of influence of the studio + does programming too, and is the person I trust the most.
Oh also, new domain
We've moved from neosoft.me to pixels.onl!
I know neosoft.me wasn't even in service for a year, but it's for the better to use a new domain matching the new group's name.
But don't worry - you can still use neosoft.me to be redirected to pixels.onl until it expires.
tl;dr: structure reformation
Once again, NeoSoft has returned from being an "I" to a "we". We hope you will enjoy the stuff we do!
Oh yeah, NeoSoft's Discord server's name and icon will remain unchanged for now. But you can still join it and talk about the new group!
